The Orion TI-36X Talking Scientific Calculator is a voice output calculator designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. It is based on the Texas Instruments pocket-sized TI-36X Solar Educational Calculator, and can be used by students in junior high school algebra through college calculus. Each key is spoken when pressed in clear, natural speech. A repeat facility speaks the display at any time. User-selectable speech modes provide quiet or verbose operation. A learning mode provides key identification without interrupting an operation. The calculator has over 127 scientific functions including 1- and 2-variable statistics, trigonometry, and unit conversion. It has large, tactile, functionally zoned keys, including a backspace/correction key and a simple on/off control. The calculator comes with a protective snap cover and earphone for private use.
