Learning with Playdough Letters and First Words Flash Cards is a do it yourself activity designed for students with learning disabilities to learn letters and sight words.

Technical Specifications: 

Step One: Gather materials.

  • Playdough.
  • Alphabet cookie cutters or playdough cutters.
  • Rolling Pin.
  • Site word flash cards.

Step Two: Have the child roll the playdough flat.

Step Three: Let the child pick a flash card. Have them guess the word, tell them if they got it correct.  If not, have them guess again or the teacher can tell them.

Step Four: Have the child find the letter cutters that match the letters in the word. If they are unsure of the letters the teacher can help make the letter sounds to see if they can guess.

Step Five: Once they have found all of their letters they can cut them out and line them up to spell out the site word.

Step Six: Repeat steps Two through Four.
