DISCONTINUED. (Verified 05/2006) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. FatMail is a large-font off-line electronic mail reader program for use on electronic bulletin board systems (BBSs). FatMail allows persons with low vision to see the messages of other BBS users presented in letters 8 x 16 or 16 x 16 pixels (standard fonts are 8 x 8 pixels). FatMail reads packages downloaded with standard communications software from BBSs which use .QWK style message packers (e.g. DjMail, MarkMail). With any standard large font editor, the user can write replies, new messages, editorial commentary, etc. to be sent out to the BBS users' community. Most functions of FatMail can be initiated with either a press of the Enter key to continue, or a press of the Escape key to quit or back up. Help screens are available at most of the menus. The package includes a tutorial in the form of a .QWK package. OLLy is a read-only version of FatMail for use in institutional settings where out-going mail is not practical. COMPATIBILITY: For use on any personal computer compatible with CGA and MS-DOS 2.1 or higher. COMPUTER REQUIREMENTS: FatMail requires a standard communications program, transfer software (e.g. DSZ) if not in the communications program; one of the standard un/compressing programs (PAK, PKUNZIP, ARJ, etc.); and an editor if messages are to be sent out.
