The Emergency Response Indicator is a vehicle emergency alert device designed to signal motorists who are deaf or hard of hearing that an emergency vehicle is nearby. The unit works by attaching a small microphone to the windshield of the car with a suction cup. This is connected to the handheld device on the dashboard that lights up when the microphone picks up the siren of an emergency vehicle. The unit comes with a sensitivity adjustment that is designed to help block out other noises like a car radio that might interfere with device's attention. This emergency device comes in portable and hardwired units. The portable unit also has other uses: For people walking, jogging or riding a bike, a clip attachment has also been developed; a third unit has been developed for hotels with non-visual smoke detectors. OPTIONS: Depends on the unit desired. POWER: Standard AC/DC power or 9-volt battery.
