The Director is a infrared environmental control switch module designed to permit persons with disabilities to operate televisions, VCRs, stereos, CD players, and other appliances that can be operated with an infrared remote control, and to store commands in a communication device. The unit learns signals from other remote controls; when stored in a communication device, the unit will transmit the signals when the user selects the corresponding keys of the communication board. The unit mounts to the side of, and is powered by, the communication board. OPTIONS: A Memory Transfer Interface (MTI) for Macintosh or IBM computers (see separate entry), a Wireless Command Center ($140) with 16 control device options, POWERMID remote extender ($95), and X-10 Modules ($32 to $47) are also available for use with the Director. COMPATIBILITY: For use with any device with Serial ASCII outputs in an RS232 format, including the Liberator, Touch Talker, and Light Talker communication boards (see separate entries).
