The ActiView Dual Channel Portable EMG Trainer is an EMG feedback unit designed to enhance the user's ability to assess and work with Patellofermoral Syndrom and other conditions involving improper muscle balance or incorrect functional muscle timing. The hand-held unit can be employed both as an at-home trainer or an in-clinic instrument. The ActiView provides two three-color vertical light bars (21 LEDs each) running in a battery conserving dot mode, dual digital displays for precise quantification of EMG activity, and selectable audio tones for threshold feedback training. FEATURES: The device has a feature that is useful in muscle strengthening training applications, the max display mode. In this mode, the instrument will hold and indicate in the numeric display the highest EMG value obtained during a contraction. Other features include: independent light bar, digital display, and audio control for both channels; digital display or real-time EMG, maximum contraction values, and EMG rations; outputs for computer interfacing and triggering of external devices. FUNCTIONS: The ActiView will simultaneously monitor EMG levels of both the VMO and VL (Vastus Medialis Oblique and Vastus Lateralis, muscles of the knee); demonstrate muscle imbalance to the client; compare and train the contraction timing and output of the VMO vs the VL, which is critical to patella alignment; help the client incorporate new motor skills into functional activities; and evaluate and document client progress.
